ROEBLING MURALS COMMITTEE

Since 2002, Legacy has been creating one of the largest permanent displays of public art in the region—the Roebling Murals at the Covington Riverfront. Legacy has commissioned internationally renowned artist Robert Dafford to paint a series of 18 murals that will depict the rich history of Covington, Northern Kentucky, and the Suspension Bridge. Each mural is 25 feet tall and either 20 or 40 feet wide and uses as its canvas the concrete floodwall fronting the RiverCenter complex, spanning from Greenup Street to Madison Avenue.
The Roebling Murals will dramatically enhance a major entryway into Covington. In addition to its aesthetic and educational benefits to the community, the murals will encourage tourism and economic returns for the City. Five murals were unveiled last October, making it eight total murals completed with the entire painting expected to be finished by the fall of 2005. Legacy leaders are also working with local and federal government leaders to create a park to enhance the area surrounding the murals.

For additional information regarding the Roebling murals, sponsoring a mural, or a general tax deductible contribution, please contact the Legacy Mural Committee, c/o Forward Quest, 50 E. RiverCenter Boulevard Suite 434, Covington, KY 41017, or (859) 291-2020.
