COMMUNITY OUTREACH COMMITTEE

The Community Outreach Committee is composed of volunteers dedicated to human service endeavors in the region. The hope is that our involvement will better the lives of individuals and families, and assist in strengthening communities, particularly those in need of a helping hand or additional support.

The Community Outreach Committee accomplished several things in 2003 including sponsoring the April general membership meeting. Margaret Hulbert and Jessie Hogg of United Way led a discussion on public policy and how it impacts the human service needs in our region. Several committee members also sold "blue ribbon pins" in April in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

A significant portion of the year was focused on the Third Annual Legacy Board Fair, which included 58 agencies representing a mix of social services, culture and arts, and community organizations in both Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky with more than 100 people touring the booths. The purpose of the Board Fair is to promote interaction among community-minded citizens, emerging professional leaders, and nonprofit organizations. Our supporters and partners included Leadership Northern Kentucky, United Way, Greater Cincinnati Foundation, Drawbridge Inn, and Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. Changes in format are made each year, based on input and suggestions from both the nonprofits and our attendees. Every nonprofit in attendance expressed an interest in participating again in 2004.
