& GREEN SPACE COMMITTEE
If you are interested in conservation and environmental
issues and want to be involved with hands-on projects and educational
programs then the Parks & Green Space Committee is the perfect place
to use your talents.
We have several projects in the works including an educational and social
outing to Split Rock Conservation Park on May 1, 2004, at 2 p.m. This
outing is open to all Legacy members and is sure to be a great time. Legacy
members are also encouraged to participate in Riversweep, a national conservation
program, scheduled for June 19, 2004.
The committee will also work to improve communication between city and
county officials about park or green space areas that may need clean-up
efforts; partner with area businesses in hopes of creating playgrounds
for children; enhance communication with county conservation districts
to make a comprehensive listing of all the parks and green space available
to the communities; and work with local conservation professionals to
develop an educational conservation program for grade school children.
